LEAD VALIDATION AND QUALITY ENGINEER (M/F/D)

We’re looking for a passionate engineer for our office in Schönaich to lead our development quality assurance team.

You will ensure we ship products that match our high expectations for performance and quality. This role has a wide range of responsibilities, but it starts with evaluating the entire system from a customer’s perspective and then designing rigorous and novel testing methods to try to break it. 

This role is primarily focused on working together with our product development team to build awesome integrated motion technology. Our designs start with empirical evidence, and you will be responsible for designing tests that gather this evidence precisely and reliably. The topics of our products range from key hardware inverter characteristics, to motion control performance, to thermal management. We have experts in all areas, but you will need to know or learn enough to push them to deliver solutions that work in the real world. You will seek evidence that something is wrong and obsessively follow up to ensure we leave nothing to chance.

The second big part of your mission is to oversee the design of production testers to ensure we not only build something that works well, but that we do it consistently and accurately.

Our product line is highly innovative, which means you’ll get the chance to help solve problems nobody else has encountered or everybody tries to avoid. You will prove that our products are second-to-none!

Some days you will quickly throw together a test rig for an idea someone really wants to try, and other days you will be proving that Synapticon’s next product is going to change the world.

You have several years of experience trying to break stuff and evaluating broken things to figure out why they failed. You get a shot of dopamine every time you manage to figure out an edge case that turns hardware components into smoke.

Beyond that, we’re open to hearing your opinion on what makes you really good at this job. Almost any mechatronics discipline will serve you well here, from mechanics to electronics to software. Whatever you excel at, that’s what you will contribute yourself; for everything else, you will work with other experts.

You feel comfortable leading a close-knit team of engineers at a technical level, and are excited to build a department as our company expands. You are quick to develop a high-level vision of how this team should perform and how the department should equip itself to address the needs of our products and customers.

Robotics fascinates you, and you love to learn and create things. Your ability to explain and teach difficult concepts to younger engineers helps them grow, and your ability to foresee potential problems and help others move past roadblocks multiplies the effectiveness of the team. Knowledge of power electronics, BLDC motors and motion control, and fieldbuses like EtherCAT or CAN are a big plus. Of course, deep testing experience and knowledge of validation and verification strategies will be important to the success of your team.
