SENIOR FUNCTIONAL SAFETY ENGINEER (M/F/D) - Job Schönaich - Career

SENIOR FUNCTIONAL SAFETY ENGINEER (M/F/D)

YOUR MISSION

We are looking for a functional safety expert in motion control to take responsibility for the design and development of our functional safety platform.

Our integrated motion products open up possibilities for advancing the state of functional safety, and we want you to help us bring these advancements to millions of people. With this new capability comes entirely new argumentation and creativity to design devices that help a robot manufacturer build safe systems. You will be deeply involved from concept through production.

Your input and guidance will be instrumental in helping us streamline the management and creation of our requirements and test specifications. The easier it is for us to keep good records, the better our safety solutions will be. Your ideas for improving processes help remove unnecessary steps and help get everyone moving in the right direction.

As with any senior level expert, you will mentor your colleagues and help the whole company understand how to think like a safety engineer. Other departments will come to you to talk through ideas, and you will help tweak their ideas into feasible solutions.

YOUR PROFILE

You are a creative and passionate engineer that enjoys the challenge of building safe systems. You enjoy working with regulatory and safety consulting bodies (such as TÜV), and are experienced in leading a team to bring certified products to market. You understand that innovation must be interdisciplinary, and you enjoy the challenge of building something that hasn’t been done before. You are perhaps a bit nit-picky, which helps establish foresight for the details.

You deeply understand the requirements in IEC 61800-5-2 for our industry. You are familiar with the standard norms, including ISO 13849 and IEC 61508, and have been trained in at least one relevant functional safety standard. You have no problem executing an FMEA, FMEDA, and conducting reliability calculations.

Knowledge of FSoE or ProfiSAFE (or any safe fieldbus protocol) is a plus. Maybe you’ve dabbled a bit in IEC 61800-5-3; that’d be helpful too.

We are especially interested in selecting a candidate that excels in clear and effective communication, both verbally and in writing. Excellently written specifications communicate your clever solutions to the rest of the world. Meetings you lead are informative, and everyone leaves with a common goal. You are excited to work on a team to build something bigger than you could do by yourself.
