PRODUCTION SYSTEMS SOFTWARE ENGINEER (M/F/D)
YOUR MISSION
We’re looking for a detail-oriented software developer that can build the brains of electro-mechanical systems for validation of our products in mass production. In the final phases of new product development, we start building them in much larger quantities where automation becomes really important. This is where you step in, and work with our validation team and mechanical engineers to build a test rig that can efficiently and reliably zip through hundreds of tests and report the results to our production and product databases.
Your code is highly reliable; enough so that we can ship these test rigs all around the world to our production facilities, and be confident that we won’t need to fly there and fix something. You work with the team to build a modular testing framework that can be easily reused and expandable for new products.
Besides that, there are lots of interesting production projects. Some days you may be coding machine vision features into our production lines to oversee production quality before the tester has a chance to check it. Other days, you’re adding a module to our production back-end to support some interesting new data you’d like to track, and building reports to help us evaluate how well our production is operating.
YOUR PROFILE
You have at least a couple years of experience writing code for larger projects. It doesn’t really matter what kind of code, but most of our systems are in Python, with some embedded C and even Typescript projects. The fundamentals of excellent software development are important. Experience with mechatronic systems is a big advantage, because that will help you understand how to avoid mistakes and troubleshoot when something fails.
You have a passion for building a highly reliable closed system that you can fully wrap your head around and control all the variables. Since production is so intolerant of mistakes, you have a good head to notice when something can go wrong, and work to prevent it.
We are especially interested in selecting a candidate that excels in clear and effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
