Your mission

We are looking for an experienced Functional Safety Manager, who will take a central stake in shaping Synapticon’s safety products. You will work closely with our cross functional teams and act as the central point of contact for all safety related topics towards certified bodies.
Your strong suit is industrial safety hardware, but you feel home discussing software related issues as well.

We are sure that the ideal candidate has a passion for functional safety and robotics and a strong urge to envision and develop smarter safety solutions than anybody else in the industry. Great communication skills to bounce ideas with certified bodies and to drive the certification process will help you to efficiently navigate through the sometimes rough waters of safety development. 

Your responsibilities

  • Lead the product compliance requirements research and implementation for the company portfolio, both on the product and the component level

  • Ensure that the functional safety requirements are known and met for each safety-critical part of the system 

  • Working on, organizing, and maintaining documentation related to - including but not limited to - test reports, safety manuals, safety concepts, safety requirements, review reports, etc. 

  • Managing, directing, and leading the problem resolution and tracking process and providing feedback on the status of tracked problems 

  • Work with regulatory agencies to understand upcoming changes in regulations and their impact on new products, communicating these changes to a cross-functional group

  • Review engineering changes for compliance conformance

  • Prepare the relevant documentation and reports for the upper management decision-making process

Your Profile

REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience developing embedded hardware and/or software for safety critical systems (SIL3 or SIL4)

  • Knowledge of V-model development processes for Software and Electronics

  • Familiar with IEC 61508 and ISO 13849

  • Experience with reading and understanding norms and regulations

  • Knowledge of FMEA, FMEDA and reliability calculations

  • Profound experience with certification processes and communication with notified bodies

  • Good English skills

  • German language skills (C1 or greater)

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Managerial experience, leading a team

  • Knowledge of functional safety for components for the automation industry especially drives and encoders 

  • Experience with functional safety software development processes

  • Experience with the implementation of functional safety software diagnostic functions

  • Experience with FSoE, IEC 61800-5-2 and IEC 61800-5-3
